Here's what we know about him so far:

Breed: Border Collie Color: Black - With White Age: Puppy
Size: Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg) Sex: Male

He is already neutered, purebred, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.

Raffle the Border Collie's adoption fee is $450. He is neutered, up to date on his shots, has his Bordetella shot, been dewormed and microchipped. Rafflle and his littermates came to us from a shelter in northern Georgia compliments of the efforts of Pilots N Paws.

Born in early July, he is a happy-go-lucky Border Collie.

And here's a refresher about Border Collies:

Border Collies became very popular following the release of the movie 'Babe.' Unfortunately, many dogs were adopted by people who had not done proper research into the breed. They have been breed for specific traits that caught many unprepared. We do not want you to be one of those people, so we strongly encourage you to do your research. www.bordercollie.org has a wealth of information, including a printable online pamphlet, Living With Border Collies.

This exert from http://www.k9web.com/ is also a good place to start:

The most outstanding characteristic of Border Collies is their desire to work above all other things. They herd with their heads lowered, eyeing the sheep with an intense stare. They notice every movement of the livestock, and they react by moving, at times almost imperceptibly, to take advantage of or counter it. Movement of both dog and stock should be calm and steady. These dogs are the world's premier sheep-working breed and are known for their athleticism, intelligence, and strong work ethic.

Border Collies are heading or gathering herders, as opposed to heelers: their instinct is to run wide around a herd or flock, gather the animals, and return them to the shepherd. Border Collies can be (and are) taught to drive stock away from the shepherd, but they do not usually do it by instinct.

Piper the Border Collie

Look at the beautiful markings on this Border Collie mix. Snow white coat with striking black face and butt! Piper the Border Collie is being fostered under the auspices of East Tennessee Border Collie Rescue. Here's what they have to say about her:

Piper is a 8 to 9 month old Border Collie Mix; she is the sister of Sam and like him she is very friendly, happy puppy. She is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped and fully vaccinated.

She likes to be with people, dog and cats, but also is independent. She is learning basic obedience and how to walk on a leash. She is being house trained, she has had very few accidents. She is a cuddle bug, likes to play, hang out, loves giving kisses and smiles 24/7, even in her sleep. She goes in a crate on her own and will curl up.

She is very good in the car and on a leash, though she still is learning to go on walks with one. She will need plenty of exercise to keep her energy level in check. She would be a good fit for individual or a family that is active.

CONTACT INFORMATION: For more information about this dog, please contact Kris.

LOCATION: This adoptable dog is located in Kingston, TN.

REQUESTED ADOPTION DONATION: $125.00

Johnny the Border Collie

Johnny the Border Collie is available through ABC Rescue of Northern Nevada. He's an 8 month old, neutered, red/white male. Here is his story so far:

Johnny is a very handsome and sweet male neutered and housetrained Border Collie. His beautiful red coat and gold eyes tell a tale of neglect. He was expected to herd cattle with no training and when he proved too gentle and scared, his owner wanted to euthanize him. That's when we were called. His foster dad thinks he's great! Johnny was never allowed in the house. Now he politely sleeps on the foot of the bed.

Here's a young boy ready for you to appreciate for his wonderful qualities. For more information about Johnny the Border Collie, contact ABC Rescue of Northern Nevada.

Annie the Border Collie

Currently fostered under the auspices of Midwest Border Collie Rescue, Annie is a real sweetie. She's a 7-year old, 34lb., red/white Border Collie. Here's what her foster says about her:

Looking for that perfect companion for long walks? Do you enjoy sitting on the couch at night watching a good movie with a friend? How about going for a ride with someone who will sit quietly and listen to you ramble on about nothing without once complaining? Well I've got that perfect someone for you right here and her name is Annie ! She has been with us for only a month and has really started to enjoy herself. Annie loves to play with all sorts of toys and will jump right in for a good tug-of-war. She likes to play in the water and has a ball when we fill the kiddie pool. A good game of fetch is also something she enjoys.

Going for a 1 to 2 mile walk is a real joy with Annie as she is terrific on leash.
Annie is a wonderful companion who really just wants to be with her people. As long as she can spend time with someone she is content. I have spent many hours working in my shop while she sniffs around or lies on the floor near me.

She has yet to meet a single person she didn't like and is always ready to go for a ride and hopefully meet more new friends. Annie has met children as young as 2 and adults walking with canes and has been the perfect little lady with all of them. She is the best friend you could ask for and asks only to be loved. Could you be her newest and forever friend?

For more info about Annie the Border Collie and to fill out an adoption application, please go to Midwest Border Collie Rescue.

Ripley the Border Collie

This cute guy is only 7 months old, and he's offered by Buckeye Border Collie Rescue in Tiffin OH. Here's what they say about Ripley the Border Collie:

Hi, Im Ripley! Im a seven-month-old purebred Border Collie. My foster mom calls me a project dog. You see, my breeder didnt socialize me and then dropped me off at the shelter along with my brother, Guinness. So, I'm learning how to greet new people and dogs, and learn new things.

I went to puppy school and I've discovered that people aren't so bad especially when they have treats and cheese. Im still kind of shy. My foster mom says I'm making progress, but still need lots of training.

She says I'm going to need an adopter who has Border Collie experience, or who has lots of experience working with dogs like me. She has given me a good foundation and she thinks I'm going to be a real nice boy as I grow up. I have the most adorable curly coat! And you don't have to give me a perm to keep it curly either. It's soft, too.

To find out more about Ripley or to adopt him, contact Buckeye Border Collie Rescue.

Big Ben the Border Collie

Big Ben the Border Collie is a 3 year old, neutered male who's currently being fostered in Northern Illinois. According to Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue:

“Big Ben” was one of three dogs rescued from a hoarder. He is a large, sweet fellow who is just now learning the basics. Both curious and nervous, Ben wants to be part of your group or make sure he can see the group. The ideal home would have a fenced yard and a possible playmate. He can be tentative about meeting new people, but is learning.

Ben settles into his crate nicely, but will let you know when he thinks it’s time to come out. He’s a smart boy and has started thinking things through, rather than the usual “run and hide.” It helps that he’s treat-motivated, and he has learned to walk nicely on a leash.

Ben is still getting used to the outside world, which can easily spook him. Though housetrained, he is sometimes reluctant to go outside, and once out, doesn’t always want to come back in.

Ben is a work in progress, and watching him discover the world is what rescue is all about.

To find out more about Ben, to watch a video, or to fill out an adoption application, contact Great Lakes Border Collie Rescue.
