Maddox was surrendered to us by his owners who were moving and unable to take Maddox with them. He is a handsome 6 year old purebred border collie.
Maddox is a medium energy border collie. He likes to get out and run, but he is not the go, go, go type of border collie. He prefers exploring and squirrel watching to Frisbees and balls. He also likes to get in on a game of chase with the other dogs sometimes, but will back off if warned by a dog not interested in being chased.
Maddox prefers women to men. He gets along well with both, but given a preference, he'd rather hang with the ladies. He gets along with other dogs, but would be just as happy to be in an only-dog household, too. He would probably not do well in a house with cats or other small animals, as he has a pretty keen interest in small critters.
Maddox knows basic commands and also knows how to "shake." He has been good off leash and comes when called, though he should be leashed in an uncontrolled environment to be safe.
Maddox would be the perfect dog for someone who wants a smart, obedient dog, but doesn't want to spend endless hours throwing balls and Frisbees. Maddox is happiest when he is laying at my feet under my desk, just as he is doing now. He also loves to go for car rides because there is so much stuff to look at out there! One of Maddox's favorite things to do at home is watch TV, especially if there are animals on. He will also often sit and next to me and supervise what I am doing on the computer.
Maddox will need to go to a home with no young children. Like many border collies, Maddox does not do well with young children because he has a tendancy to nip at them. He doesn't do it to be aggressive, it's just his border collie desire to try and control their movements.
Maddox is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and heartworm preventative, and is microchipped.
